97% of frames made in Japan are produced in Fukui and the Masunaga brand started producing glasses in this location in 1905 .
The company's founder, Gozaemon Masunaga , went to seek qualified artisans from Osaka and Tokyo, with the ambition of solidly establishing the optical industry in Fukui.
In the company mission statement, it was established since its creation “We manufacture excellent glasses. We want to make a profit if we can, but we don't hesitate to lose. It is always on our mind to make excellent glasses. ” These words are still the basis of the employees' code of conduct, after more than 100 years since its creation.
Masunaga is the only company in Japan that has a factory responsible for all processes, in an integrated manner, from raw material, to production and finishing. This system improves details and quality.
The know-how: before the polishing process in barrels, Masunaga manually files the interior of the fronts of the frames, rods and embellishments. This modeling process is one of the main steps to provide the best comfort.
